NC graffiti victim ordered to remove tagging from home at his expense

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – An Asheville homeowner and repeat victim of graffiti said the city now expects him to foot the bill to remove the tagging.

WLOS-TV reported that Kenneth Thomas has been the victim of graffiti three times in the last 6 months. He said after this latest incident, he sees no reason to fix it if it’s just going happen again.

When the wall on Thomas’ rental property was spray-painted twice late this summer, Asheville’s new 1-2-3 Graffiti Free Program paid a contractor to have it removed at $500 per incident.

“Who was paying for all this? Were the taxpayers paying for this? If so, it just seems like a ridiculous thing to do because they’re probably just going to tag it again!” Thomas said.
